30 October 2014

Hello there! With midterms finally over, I've been trying to make time for a little bit of leisure. I've been really wanting to go thrifting, (since I hadn't been since coming back to San Francisco!) so when the opportunity for Halloween shopping arose with some close friends, I couldn't help but take out a little bit of money to treat myself for surviving the semester thus far! I can hardly believe I'm already a junior in university... it all seemed to go by so quickly! It definitely is a lot more work than before, but I couldn't be having more fun!

I've had a super lucky time shopping lately. I managed to score these beautiful "saddle shoes" (they're really golf shoes, but who cares, right?) and this perfect skirt as well as a number of great items I can't wait to share! I decided to complete this thrifty outfit with one of my favourite all-time thrifted finds--this bag! It's pretty worn, but I just love the artwork on it. Interestingly enough, I found a smaller bag with the same image at a Goodwill here in San Francisco, and I found my bag in Hawaii! I love when weird coincidences like that happen.

20 October 2014

Lately, I've been thinking back to when I was 15 and just starting to develop my own personal style and how I used to dress then. I've always had vintage inspiration, but lately I've sort of lost that soft, effortless, ladylike feel that used to be my go-to everyday look. I suppose because I enjoy a more elaborate ensemble every once in a while, and have become more expressive with colour. When I do pull out the occasional outfit like this, however, I do notice a difference in the way I feel.

I suppose the best way to describe it would be that this particular side of my style makes me feel a lot older and more mature--like a proper adult. I've branched out into experimenting with other styles and trends in an efforts to take advantage of the fact that I am 20 years old and in university and can dress as I like, but it is comforting to have an alternative style waiting for me that can take me throughout any age, and can fit almost any occasion.

This was a bit of a babbly post, but hopefully it made some sense. I suppose I'm just rambling more than anything. I've been putting a lot of thought (perhaps too much) into my sense of fashion and I am beginning to realise that my taste isn't as finite as I had identified it before (sorry, wallet!). I feel that this blog hasn't even begun to touch what is the full embodiment of my personal style, but I look forward to sharing it with you in the years to come. ((I feel it necessary to say that I am, however, much more than just my appearance and would never value myself on clothing articles alone!))

Camera Ready

01 October 2014

On Fridays this semester, I have a six hour camera class. It's my first six hour class since in university, so leading up to it I was both excited and apprehensive. Excited, because I get to do what I love for six hours with a group of people I love, and apprehensive because, well, six hours is a long time to be stuck in class! Thankfully, my degree requires classes with more than just sitting down for lecture, and the time passes fairly quickly.

Since we have to be in front of a camera, class gives me an excuse to get really dolled up for the day. I absolutely loved my outfit a couple weeks ago! It truly is the quintessential Sarah ensemble, wouldn't you say? The blue dress and sparkly silver socks made me feel like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz! Don't you just love how the perfect outfit can make your mood a billion times better? Or is that just me?

Stay sweet ♡
